Output description: Intellectual Output 4 (IO 4) is led by The Einar Jónsson Museum in Reykjavik and aims to activate young people in local, national and European cultural heritage through the topic of Sculpture and Food It is the goal that IO 4 will strengthen action com petencies related to innovation and entrepreneurship among young people in Europe in ways that will inspire creativity and innovative new solutions, the rediscovery of our shared cultural heritage, and the active participation in shaping the future of Europe.
The Einar Jónsson Museum will develop, design and facilitate the UpCreate Art of Sculpture Competition regarding their main topic; The Art of Sculpture in combination with food The Einar Jónsson Museum is located on the top of the hill Skolavorduhaed in Reykjavik and from the opening a midsummer day in 1923 until Einar Jónssons death in 1954 the house functioned as his studio, a gallery for his works and as his home Einar Jónsson was the first Icelandic sculptor and his arts have been, and still is, highly appreciated by the locals In his Artworks, Einar Jónsson emphasized the need to follow his own path and secure the cultivation of his originality and imagination, which gave his sculptors a complex and unique look In UpCreate, The Einar Jónsson Museum will define the: UpCreate Art of Sculpture Competition that takes its point of departure in the Einar Jónssons sculptures and his use of symbols and combine it with food to understand and interpret the artist in a new and innovative way The UpCreate tasks in the competition is chosen to spark entrepreneurship among the young participants in their local environment by providing access to education and training, this will also contribute to the recovery and future resilience of the museum by embracing new innovative practices to present the material and the legacy of Einar Jónsson.
The Einar Jónsson Museum will, on basis of the UpCreate Framework developed by all partners in IO 1 produce the UpCreate Art of Sculpture Competition Brief that will describe a specific topic within the frame of Sculpture and Food The Einar Jónsson Museum will promote the competition locally and nationally for young people to participate and engage with their own history, while answering the brief and thereby developing new and innovative solutions to engage with our shared cultural heritage The participants will, during the UpCreate Art of Sculpture Competition period, be provided with specifically tailored Digital Educational Material, which includes the opportunity to participate in online lectures by the project partners i.e art historians, architects, artistic performance groups, chefs etc to secure a broad and interdisciplinary approach It is the ambition that the interdisciplinary learning tools will further inspire the level of creativity and innovative ideas that spark entrepreneurship among the young participants in their local environment.
During the competition period, The Einar Jónsson Museum will continuously engage with the participants by facilitating digital meetings in the plenum and individually, for the participants to get feedback on their contributions This, to secure an iterative process in regard to the learning outcome, as well as a social interactive possibility and way to communicate.
The Einar Jónsson Museum will select a winner of the UpCreate Art of Sculpture Competition at a local Multiplier Event (E3) which will be live-streamed through the UpCreate website (www.up-create.eu) The Multiplier Event will be facilitated by The Einar Jónsson Museum and will present the Strategic Partnership UpCreate and UpCreate Art of Sculpture Competition, the different solutions and finalise the event by electing a winner to the broad public in the local environment The winner will present their entry or pilot version of their solution The winner of the UpCreate Art of Sculpture Competition will be given an opportunity to participate in the UpCreate workshop at the International Art Biennale 2022 in Venice (IO 8 and promote the solution in the final UpCreate Handbook (IO 9) and the UpCreate Booklet (IO 7).
Finally, IO4 and The Einar Jónsson Museum will develop manuals for the art of sculpture and the activities developed throughout the IO 4 including learning tools and facilitation procedures to the UpCreate Art of Sculpture Competition The manuals will include how to guides for working within the frame of Sculpture and Food, and for implementing in other European museums and recommendations for up or downscaling The manual will be developed by The Einar Jónsson Museum in collaboration with IO 9 leader Aalborg University and will provide pedagogical considerations and recommendations securing not only the dissemination and transferability of the IO4 – The Art of Sculpture, but also the sustainability of the UpCreate project.
