The Slovenian competition “Flavours from the Plečnik’s Garden” closed on June 3rd with the announcement of 2 winners: Manca Bogataj and Lan Verko.

The aim of the competition was to create an innovative recipe for dessert, inspired by both local ingredients found in the garden of the Plečnik House and from his architectural style.

The jury was chaired by Bruno Šulman, last year’s winner of the show MasterChef Slovenija and ambassador of the project. Ana Porok, curator of the Plečnik house, Lea Kužnik, representative of the Biotechnical Education Centre of Ljubljana, Daniela Rimei, representative of AMAT (the Italian partner of the UP-CREATE project) and Nejc Kovačič leader of digital marketing in the Museum and galleries of LjubIjana evaluated 5 finalists.

Here is a comment by Bruno Šulman, the jury President: “We ate five very different desserts in the finals, some with a very strong concept and others great in taste. The dessert that completely met all the criteria won. The pyramid of Plečnik created by Manca Bogataj already looks magnificent and there is no doubt what it stands for, it also stands out for superb technical execution and beautifully balanced and creative tastes. Plečnik’s pyramid is definitely a perfect update of the connection between Plečnik and dessert. Lan Verko also convinced us with his dish of Plečnik’s architectural tastes because he came very close to Plečnik’s constructions, and he used ingredients from his garden in a very thoughtful and balanced way.”
